Three Lives, One Day, Infinite Grace: Baptism Stories from Haddasa Ministries’ Outdoor Worship

Meyerton, 31 January 2026 — Under the open sky at Haddasa Ministries' outdoor worship event, three powerful testimonies unfolded as individuals and families took the public step of baptism, each story a unique thread in the tapestry of God's redemptive work.

A Journey of Sobriety and Restoration

Mario's testimony cut through the air with raw honesty. Standing before JustGospel's microphone, still dripping from the baptismal waters, he shared a story that would resonate with thousands of listeners tuning in live.

"I started off 2026 asking myself, who am I?" Mario began. "I am sober for 19 days today."

Those 19 days represented more than a number—they represented victory over a 20-year battle with crystal meth addiction. Mario had tried everything: rehab, psychologists, medication, isolated and controlled environments. Nothing worked. Nothing, that is, until God.

"I've literally reached the point in life where my organs begged me to stop," he shared, his voice thick with emotion. "The only thing that could get me sober and give me back my life was God."

Two weeks ago, Mario walked out of a Narcotics Anonymous meeting "laughing with joy," knowing the Lord had given him back his smile. In those brief weeks, God began restoring what two decades had destroyed—relationships with his mother and father, hope for the future, and most importantly, his very identity.

"I literally have nothing at the moment. I've destroyed my life, but I'm more happy than I've ever been in the past 35 years," Mario declared, his face radiating the transformation within.

His message to fellow addicts listening was clear: "The best decision I ever made in life was to throw down that last bit or packet down the toilet. Nothing works but God. Jesus is the answer!"

Love That Leads to Salvation

Nearby, Jeandre stood visibly emotional, having just emerged from the baptismal waters. His story was intertwined with that of Nadine, his girlfriend, who watched with joy as he took this significant step.

"You meet people in the right time, in the right way, and it was his time to bring his life to the Lord," Nadine explained. Their relationship hadn't been easy—she described it as "rocks and up and down"—but through attending church together, the call to baptism had come up "two or three times" until finally, they both knew: today was the day.

Jeandre received a prophetic word during the service, and though overwhelmed with emotion, his intention was clear: to learn more from Jesus and build a relationship with Him.

Now baptized themselves—Nadine having taken the step on January 21, 2021—the couple faces their future together with renewed purpose. "Now we're building this relationship together with him," Nadine shared, her words simple but profound.

A Family's Fresh Start

As the worship band continued playing in the background, the Du Bruyn family—mom, dad, and two sons—gathered to share their collective testimony. This wasn't just one person's journey; this was a family walking together into their next chapter.

Mom spoke of a divine moment just before entering the water: "It was overcast a bit, and just before we went in, the sun was shining on my face. I was reminded of the scripture—the sun will shine on the righteous. This is just part of the journey, a continuous journey for us."

Dad Leo described it as "very amazing having the boys there with me, all as a family being baptized. It's just a reconfirmation, a renewal, and a fresh start for the new journey that's ahead."

Young Jeandre and Luan, though still processing the magnitude of their decision, knew they felt "good" about dedicating their lives to Jesus. Their parents' faith had paved the way, and now the entire family stood united in their public declaration.

The Bigger Picture

These three testimonies—captured live by JustGospel during the outdoor worship event—represent more than individual decisions. They represent the heart of the gospel itself: that no one is too far gone, no addiction too strong, no journey too complicated for God's redemptive power.

As Lynette preached about the prodigal son in the background, baptisms continued—each one a modern-day parable of return, restoration, and new beginnings.

Mario's journey from 20 years of addiction to 19 days of freedom. Jeandre's emotional surrender guided by prophetic confirmation and faithful love. The Du Bruyn family's unified step forward into their next season together.

Three different stories. One common thread: God is good, all the time.
